Moment of Insanity

Yeah, the school year is finally over for the kids. However, for me it has just begun. In Bellingham it is a dog eat dog world when it comes to getting a job as a teacher. So far I have seen experienced teachers who were fulfilling a leave replacement contract lose their jobs to the green teachers fresh out of college. In the PE department they just juggled everyone around to fulfill the retired position. Unfortunatly since I was in the paraeducator world I was not even involved in the juggle. Every job I ended up applying for was fulfilled internally. So that left me out of the loop. That brings me to my moment of insanity.

The secretary that I was assisting is moving to the new school which means her position opened up. Some how she convinced me to apply for it. Well, I was the only internal canidate that was crazy to apply for it. I was offered the job and OMG I accepted it. What the hell was I thinking. Well I guess I am up for a heck of a challenge. So, my goal is to create a secretary handbook so that I can pass it on after this coming school year to the next crazy person. At least I will get paid more. If I don't get a PE job for the 2009-2010 school year we are getting the heck out of here.

Ahh, the rollercoaster of life!!! Things never stay the same long. I am sure you will be a great sec. for the school. You bring a lot of experience to the table, but I'm also sure you feel overwhelmed. Good luck!!!!

Very different than from down here. Too many jobs and not enough teachers....I hope it all works out for you.
