Sunday afternoon a handful of us from the gym got together for a hike on one of the many trails in the Pacific Northwest. About 10 miles south of Bellingham are the Chuckanut Mountains which give you a beautiful view of the San Juan Islands. I got everyone together and Travis who has done the trail before led the way on the trail. Below are the sights we saw when we finally made it to the top. It was an hour and a half climb straight up the side of a mountain for 3.5 miles. (The crazy thing is I thought this was going to be a recovery hike. Little did I know what I was in for.)
I will say that this to me was just as hard as any Crossfit workout. The view at the top was a great reward along with the Oatmeal Stout they had waiting on me at Boundary Bay when we finally made it back into town.
Here is what Emilie had to say about the day.
A few of us made the 6-mile Oyster Dome hike on Sunday. Lynn (aka The Mountain Goat) lead the way with a blistering pace. Walt (aka The Shadow) was never more then two steps behind. Mac (aka MacDaddy) had a smile on his face ALL day, especially when eating everyone’s snacks at the top. Shain (aka Pokey Puppy/Recon Ranger) provided some hilarious trail commentary. Travis (aka Mr. T Oyster) was the only of us to have done the Oyster Hike and kept us moving in the right direction… UP. Carrie (aka ‘Take A Deep Breath Carrie’) had all of us laughing most of the day. All in all it was a great day wrapped up with dinner at Boundary Bay.
