Grocery List - You will need the following to complete the hummus hor'dourves recipe:
2 cups canned garbanzo beans, drained
1/3 cup tahini
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
2 cloves garlic, halved
1 tbsp olive oil
Pita Loaves
Cucumber
Roma Tomatoes
Step 1: Make fresh hummus
2 cups canned garbanzo beans, drained
1/3 cup tahini
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
2 cloves garlic, halved
1 tbsp olive oil1.
Place garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Transfer to a serving bowl or container that you can store extras in. Drizzle olive oil on top.
Note: I made it today and just realized that the recipe only called for 2 cups of beans. I put two whole cans of beans in it. No wander it was kind of thick. It still turned out good though.
Step 2: Prepare other ingredients.
Pita Loaves (Toast in toaster oven and cut into 8 wedges each)
Cucumbers (skin and slice)
Roma Tomatoes (Slice)
Step 3: Put together hor'dourves
Layer from bottom to top
Pita wedge
Hummus
Cucumber slice
Drop of hummus (to hold tomato on)
Tomato slice
Step 4: Plate and eat

I Looooove hummus, but I can never find tahini. I had to use peanut butter once!
